Wednesday, 29 August 2012

Pool Party, *Awol, Nice N' Neutral, Parma Violet

If there is one beauty category that I seem to collect, it's nail polish. My collection adds up to around 50 polishes, it may not seem a lot to some but it's proving very difficult to store - any tips or ideas? Please share!

Accessorize Lipstick in Smitten

*Accessorize Lipstick in Smitten - £4.99

I'm usually a nude kind of girl when it comes to lipsticks, however if I'm sporting a natural make-up look or wearing head to toe black I like to mix it up wearing a bright lip. When picking a bright lip colour I tend to opt for pinks like MAC's Impassioned or a bright coral like this one, which is called Smitten by Accessorize. I have to be honest, make-up by Accessorize didn't really appeal to me much, until I attended an event with their latest launches! The items that stood out most to me there were in fact the lipsticks, not only is the packaging adorable but the colour range really impressed me. From pinks to deep berries there was something to cater everyones taste.

Boss Nuit Pour Femme Is the latest scent by Hugo Boss, doesn't it look fabulous? With its inspiration coming from the classic LBD and Gwyneth Paltrow being the face of the fragrance it just oozes sophistication. Of course I can't go without mentioning the bottle, ultra sleek with the classic combination of black and gold. All in all making it the perfect addition and finishing touch to your outfit, and dressing table. I mean, who wouldn't want this sitting on their dressing table? It's beautiful!

Festival Series | Beauty Essentials

Topshop Head Over Heels Cream Busher, MAC Impassioned Lipstick, Chantecaille Just Skin
Anti-Smog Tinted Moisturiser, Benefit Porefessional, By Terry Touche Veloutee, HD Brows
Palette, No7 Fanomenal Lashes, Carmex Cherry, Travalo.

When thinking about festival make-up or beauty essentials what instantly comes to mind are products that look natural, long lasting, fuss free and quick to apply whilst still looking fun. Less is more with the base, making a statement with other features. Of course they need to be convenient, so its great to pick products that you may not need brushes for. You might usually think about cutting out the luxury items when going to a festival, but to be fair I'm not the type of person to get insanely drunk and loose my makeup bag, so I have added some in there! However, there are lots of alternatives.

Go-to Hair Products

Tuesday, 7 August 2012

*Ojon Dry Recovery Revitalising Moisture Mist £20.00 & *Ojon Full Detox Rub Out
Dry Cleansing Spray £18.00

Since the start of the year I have been trying to "train" my hair. It pretty much needs washing every other day, so I've been reaching for these products on those days where I need some extra help. I was lucky enough to be invited to the Ojon office's in London and have my hair styled by one of their global stylists. After assessing my hair he prescribed me these products, they are pretty much a match made in heaven!

Luxury Make-up Buys

Sunday, 5 August 2012

Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk Foundation £35.00, Chantecaille Just Skin Anti-Smog Tinted
Moisturiser £57.00, Burberry Eye Definer in Midnight Brown £15.50

Just recently I felt like treating myself to some luxury items and seeing as I have just graduated from university with  2:1 I thought why not splurge a little and award myself! I have justified each purchase... promise.

Having just finished my Jemma Kidd Light as Air and it being extremely hard to buy at the moment, I picked up the Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk foundation. I was needing a foundation for nights out that doesn't contain any SPF, I have been wearing this daily too just adding an SPF moisturiser so I have that protection. This is just temporary until I can get Jemma Kidd again. I got this in Selfridges after trying a sample for a couple of weeks! I instantly fell in love, one of the best foundations I have ever tried. Medium coverage, long lasting with a natural yet luminous finish. I know this foundation isn't for everyone so I urge you to try a sample first. The lady that served me in Selfridges, London is really lovely and helpful, she is usually there on weekdays so I definitely recommend popping in. The shade I have is 6.5 which is great for summer when I'm tanning.

The Chantecaille Just Skin Tinted Moisturiser was a bit of a must have purchase after the mini heatwave here in England. For the first week I wore foundation and could not bear it, I love my coverage but was lusting after a product that would give me good coverage but feel light on the skin. This is exactly what I was looking for. For a tinted moisturiser it gives great coverage whilst feeling comfortable on my skin, letting my freckles show through which I'm really liking. Yes, its very expensive but it does have added skincare benefits such as antioxidants and anti-pullution properties, which is very suiting seeing as I'm currently interning full time in London! The shade I own is Wheat, once again perfect for the summer months.

The last product is something I picked up in the John Lewis beauty hall, the Burberry counter is amazing and the MUA's in there are lovely! I was after after a product I could quickly apply in the morning that will still give me definition, yet look relaxed and effortless. This colour was recommended to me which is called Midnight Brown, it really compliments my green eyes and blonde hair. The other great thing about this product is that its long lasting and comes with a sharpener.

Anyone else had a little splurge recently?

Laura Mercier Second Skin Cheek Colour

Laura Mercier Second Skin Cheek Colour - Lush Nectarine and Peach Whisper

The Laura Mercier Second Skin Cheek Colour blushers have quickly become a favourite of mine this year. There was once a time I thought MAC had the best blushers and I went a little crazy wanting to own every single one. My makeup collection has always been minimalistic, even though I am obsessed with beauty I've never been one to splurge on products I really don't need. I can see myself just sticking to these blushers, they have such a lovely range of colours that all seem to be neutral shades. I own Peach Whisper and Lush Nectarine.

The first one I picked up was Lush Nectarine, this was after Vivianna's rave. I just could not resist! Its a lovely peach with a slight hint of pink and shimmer running through it. After loving this one so much I wanted to get one that would replace my love for MAC's Melba, so I picked up Peach Whisper whilst shopping with Laura in London. It is beautiful! She soon after also picked it up, you can read her review here. It was a part of their Summer 2012 collection I believe, but has made it into their permanent line. It's a lot softer and more peach than Melba, it adds a lovely warmth to your complexion. I always opt for peach blushers, I find they suit me a lot more then pure pinks. I like to apply these with either the Real Technique Blush Brush or the Real Techniques Stippling brush.

These blushers will set you back around £20.00. Pretty expensive for a blush considering you don't get a lot of product, almost half of what you would get from a MAC blusher. But in my eyes, totally worth it! They are soft, pigmented, blend like a dream and are extremely long lasting. I'm someone that loves their blush, I like it to be noticeable and find myself not needing to top up at the end of the day. I would love to to try some more, I have my eye on Orange Blossom and Fresh Ginger next!

Have you tried these blushers? Can you recommend me any shades?
