Flax PR Press Day

Saturday, 28 April 2012

The other week I was able to attend the Flax PR press day, I was extremely excited knowing that one of their clients is in fact Eve Lom! They have a great mix of clients from beauty, fashion and lifestyle which include - Catch Kidston and Laura Ashley.

Eve Lom a luxury skincare brand that is known for her simple skincare and famous balm cleanser. She also doesn't believe in anti-ageing products which is very interesting. I have been very intrigued by this brand for a while, especially after trying a sample of the TLC Moisturiser a while back, which I loved! I think what makes Eve Lom so appealing is the fact that she doesn't believe in products that are being marketed as anti-ageing. When a lot of other brands use this as their selling point to bring in customers. In a way it makes me trust the brand and believe in their products.

This is the new travel kit which includes miniatures of their iconic original cleanser 30ml, with the muslin cloth, Morning Time Cleanser 50ml, TLC Radiance Cream 25ml , Rescue Mask 15ml and the bag. This set will cost you  £75.00.

Eve Lom Serums

The other brand that was introduced to me was Timothy Han. They sell 100% natural, organic candles full off essential oils. Did you know that some candles are indeed toxic? You know the black stuff you get on your wall? Yep! That is called zinc and is in fact harmful to you. Well these candles are toxic free and give you 50 hours of burning time. They come in six different scents, my favourite was the Tobacco and Jasmine - amazing! They will set you back £38.00. I adore the sleek packaging.

Here are some fashion bits for you...

Cath Kidston - How cute are all the florals? Stunning!

They kindly gave me some Eve Lom skincare to try which I am extremely excited about, so far so good! I'm really enjoying them. Full reviews will be coming soon.

Topshop Lipstick in Whimsical

Topshop Lipstick in Whimsical - £8.00

I have been searching for the perfect peachy pink for quite some time now. It all started out with the Barry M 147 and then with Topshop Coy - I didn't like the formula of either and found they settled into the fine lines making my lips look dry and overall not very appealing. I saw this one online sometime last week and I instantly wanted it! I had some spare time today so I popped into Westfields in Stratford to see if it was there, it was and I was extremely happy! Its one of their Matte Finish lipsticks, but saying that its surprisingly moisturising and still has a little sheen to it, the perfect amount. I have a feeling I am going to be wearing this pretty much all summer, I find that It really compliments my skin tone and hair colour, if that makes any sense! You can wear it full on or just dab it in and it gives a lovely tint to your lips. I also really like the packaging, It feels like its really nice quality.

What do you think of it? What are your favourite lipsticks from Topshop?

Nails Inc Event & Launches for 2012

Last week I attended a Nails Inc event, it was basically to show us all their collections that are to come in 2012, and I have to say I was seriously impressed. Before having a look around we were greeted with a lovely glass of champaign, cupcakes, smoothies and canapes, yum! The collections were beautifully presented and waiting for us were the lovely ambassadors to tell us all about them.

Yummy cupcakes!

(L-R: Notting Hill Gate, Portobello, Westbourne Grove, Ladbroke, Kensington Park Road,
Holland Park)

This is the new neon collection which is currently out at the moment. The colours are just gorgeous, I particularly like the blue and bright pink! If you want to wear neons but find them a little too much, I would suggest using it with a nude shade as the tips. It will give it a nice balance but also fits in with the season.

This collection here is called "Nail Jewellery" and I have to say this was one of my favourites. It comes in four colours - Piccadilly Arcade which is an emerald, Burlington Arcade which is silver, Royal Arcade which is a sapphire and finally Princes Arcade which is a pink diamond. They all consist of a clear base with chunks of big and small holographic glitter. Its such an interesting way to wear glitter on your nails and is just stunning, I have one of them on my nails now and its absolutely stunning. Post to come soon :) This collection has just been released this month.

This is one of the other collections that got me a little excited. Its their Autumn/Winter collection which is inspired from the catwalks of Victoria Beckham, Chloe and Louis Vuitton. The collection consists of - L-R- Sloane Garden which is a navy glitter, Chester Street which is a nude pearl, Bruton Mews which is a forest green and Richmond Terrace which is a plum shade. p.s don't you just love they are all named after places in London? This will be available in August and for the whole set it will cost you £25.00

Where do I even start with these? Utterly gorgeous, cute, girly shades perfect for spring. This collection is called "Sprinkles" and is a part of their special effects range. I've never quite seen glitter polishes like these before, really unique. They have a matte creamy base with different colour of matte glitters in each. The collection consists of - L-R: Topping lane which is a pink base with fuschia, silver and blue glitter. Pudding Lane which has a teal base with navy and gold glitter. Sugar House Lane which has  a pastel grey base with monochrome glitter. Then lastly my favourite of the bunch and choice of colour when having my mini manicure! Sweets Way which is a pale blue with pastel blue, pink and white glitter. The names are just adorable and really do remind me of sprinkles on cupcakes. This collection is going to be available from June. p.s the only downfall is that these are a pain in the butt to get off!

Sweets Way Sprinkles Polish with two coats

Now, moving onto something oh so british! Its a limited edition shade called Jubilee which is full coverage and of course inspired by the Union Jack flag. Estee chose this as her manicure shade and I have to say it looked stunning. This will be available from May and will cost you £15.00. oh and how could I forget the crystal cap, make it that little more special right?

This is something that really stood out to me, its a fabulous service that they now have on their website called "Couture". This service offers you to be able to have a unique polish by being able to customise it yourself online. You pick your shade, the cap as well as naming it yourself. It then comes to you beautifully packaged in the Couture gift box. I don't know about you, but I'm always stuck for gifts and this is just the perfect gift. I love how you have the opportunity to make it really personal, I just love it! This will cost you £16.00 - £20.00 but to me its totally worth it for what you get.

The other collection that will be available this year is the Metallic collection which consists of Greenwick Park which is a silver glitter, Wembley which is a gold chrome and Horseguard's Parade which is a bronze chrome. This collection will be out from June and for all three polishes will set you back £25.00. The other new collection that is now available is the new Fishnet Magnetic polishes that comes in three shades - Piccadilly which is a gold shimmer, Soho which is a chrome metallic and Spitafields which is a green metallic. These so much

phew, that was a big one! What collection stands out to you most? And well done if you have made it through to here ;)

Speckles & Vintage Denim

Thursday, 12 April 2012

This outfit pretty much sums me up, I love anything specked and I basically live in my Vintage Levi's. I actually wore this to the Gold by Giles cosmetic launch at New Look. I wanted something that was super comfortable but also looked as if I had made at least a bit of effort. This sweatshirt is really similar to the ones in Topshop that everyone seems to own. I love its sheer material making it perfect for spring/summer and also layered in the winter. I haven't seen it in any Zara stores since I bought it so I'm sorry if you guys can't find it. The shorts you have all seen before, I actually have a post dedicated to these shorts here, yes I love them that much. I have once again linked the video version down below if you would like to see.

Big White Tee & Leather

Monday, 9 April 2012

I think its pretty obvious by now that I love anything slouchy or baggy so when I saw this top which is from American Apparel, ASOS I had to have it! Its their "Big Tee" style and its just the most comfortable thing ever. I love the cut and the fact it doesn't look too boxy which you sometimes get with oversized pieces. I have then worn it with my leather panel leggings which are also from ASOS, I don't usually like or wear plain black leggings but I think the leather detail is really lovely and adds something. Especially if its very simple and plain like this one, makes it a little more interesting. My footwear of choice is once again my chelsea boots from Topshop, I just can't get enough! I have left the video for this outfit down below because you can see the leggings in better detail. Please don't forget to hype my look :)
p.s I have had a rush of new followers recently so I want to say a huge thanks and welcome!

New Look Gold by Giles Make-up Launch

Saturday, 7 April 2012

Giles -
"I chose New Look as the high street store to collaborate with, as we both have a sense of fun and believe in fashion and now beauty for everyone"

Last week I was lucky enough to be invited by New Look to preview the new Gold by Giles make-up line. I met up with the lovely Laura and we headed over to the New Look show room. When we arrived we were greeted by Lauren who spoke to us a bit about the line. If you didn't know, Giles has worked with New Look in the past - In 2007 Giles collaborated with New Look to create a fashion line which included footwear, accessories, swimwear, denim, hosiery and menswear and then in 2011 they launched the start of their beauty line which included nail varnish, nail wraps and fake eye lashes.

They have now expanded that line which includes: four eyeshadow palettes, two blushers, one bronzer, two highlighter sticks, four lipsticks, six lip glazes, five lip glosses, five metallic eye liners, two mascaras, one liquid liner pen, a brow and kohl set and finally some beauty accessories which include brushes, hair rollers, eye lash curlers and a makeup make. Phew that was a big one!

Everything was beautifully presented and represented the collection very well with its gold and black packaging. The colours throughout the line were very rich giving the collection a luxurious feel, which usually lacks with cheaper make-up brands. I was actually really impressed with the line, it's really good value with everything being priced between £1.99 - £7.99. My personal favourites were the eye shadow palettes they were extremely pigmented and felt very soft in texture, the one I have my eye on is called Buff and it includes some lovely purple and taupe shades. I also liked the lipsticks, they had a gorgeous fruity scent and were once again very pigmented and smooth. oh yes! And how could I forget the liquid pen eye liner. It had a lovely nib and was seriously long wearing, I had to scrub my hand to get it off!

The Gold by Giles make-up collection will be in stores from the 21st April.

What do you think of the line, does anything catch your eye?
